Dear Detective,

I don't know how this letter finds you — perhaps tucked between the pages of a novel, perhaps slipped under the door — but I'm glad it has. My name is Clara Wren. I keep a small bookshop on Blackwood Cove High Street, called, rather predictably, The Wren & Quill. Most days it's a quiet sort of business: recommending novels, restocking shelves, apologising to the bell above the door for how often it sticks.
But every so often, something happens in the village that can't be solved over a cup of tea alone — a missing will, a guest who never made it home, a secret someone has been keeping for far too long. When that happens, I write to a small circle of trusted readers and ask for their help.
